De La Soul's Plug 1 & Plug 2 presents First Serve with Live Band + DJ Maseo

De La Soul, the legendary Grammy award winning trio from Long Island, is regarded as the most consistent and hard-working hip hop group of the last 20 years. The band is best known for their eclectic sampling and lyrics and for their amazing contributions to the mashing of soul, funk, rap and groove. One of the most influential hip-hop groups of all time, Plug1 and Plug2 perform in Cork with a live band. The triple bill also includes a rip-roaring closing set from Mase Plug3.

It’s clear that the storytelling element essential to any concept project is present on ‘First Serve’, and the music is great, too. Pos and Dave simply don’t falter, and the French production team of Chokolate and Khalid bring a distinct sound.

Fans will be treated to traditional Hip Hop a la soul samples, disco-inspired celebrations and harmonica-laden blues. Chokolate and Khalid, who assume the alter ego 2&4, are storytellers just like their rapping counterparts. ‘First Serve’ is an extraordinary project, full of humour, drama, and a satisfying sense of resolution.
