OKO is a project led by Irish guitarist Shane Latimer featuring keyboardist Darragh O’Kelly (Republic of Loose, Niwel Tsumbu), percussionist Shane O’Donovan (Dublin City Jazz Orchestra, Isotope) and turntablist DJackulate (North Strand Kontra Band).

The group improvises between skeletal compositions, drawing on a wealth of influences such as krautrock, vintage TV shows, free jazz, noise, dub, drum ‘n’ bass, dubstep, muzak, metal and more.
Their music shifts from lush synth-drenched sculptures to both tight and loose grooves, singing melodies, robust scratching and liberated soloing.

Since late 2010, OKO have bubbled in Dublin’s underground music scene and have road tested their music at various indie Dublin venues including Whelans, Grand Social, Workman’s Club & The Twisted Pepper. These appearances drew such acclaim that OKO were hired for festival slots at Kilkenny Arts Festival and Bottlenote Festival.

Having spent the six months working on their debut album it is set for release on Diatribe label with the assistance of the Arts Council Music Recording Scheme.
